"FREE" Learn to Sing Courses
Over the last few years The Chorus has hosted a number of 6 week Learn-to-Sing courses which have been entirely FREE to the delegates. These have been held at our local Practice Venue at Woodside under the direction of our Musical Director, Colin Reid and have proved to be a very successful introductory method to the Chorus, although there has been no obligation on those attending to join. The last one was held in the autumn of 2010. These FREE courses have been made possible by grants from various bodies including our own Association.
In addition, The Chorus were the North-Eastern hosts for the very first National Learn-to-Sing Day on the 16th October, 2011, a one-day coaching event held in the Northern Hotel, Aberdeen when around 20 guys of all ages were introduced to 4-part unaccompanied singing. Around the country, almost 40 Barbershop Choruses hosted the event.

Always wanted to sing but lacked the opportunity?
Our 6-weeker will definitely benefit you. There are many men who would love to sing with some friends. We had over
35 on our last course. The simple fact is that just about everyone can sing – and that includes you!
We will help you to discover your voice and gain confidence.
Don’t worry if you’re not able to read written music, our simple teaching methods will help you to learn a song quickly.
You’ll be ringing those chords before you know it!
Or are you a regular singer?
Are you already singing in a choir or group – or perhaps haven’t sung for a while? Whichever it is, fancy trying something really different? This may be just what you have been looking for. Our course will give you an insight into the world of 4-part unaccompanied harmony singing and its ringing chords.
So, what’s the catch?
There isn’t one! The GCC and its National Association have a policy of encouraging men to take up singing as a hobby. Our aim is to give you that opportunity with no obligation to join the chorus - although it would be great if you chose to do so !
Funding from our Association enables us to offer you these singing experiences
ENTIRELY FREE !
